John R. McDaniels: Teaching in Romania
Here is a summary of my activities in Romania:

I am teaching Conversational English classes at a public high school where I am
free to use whatever subjects I choose. I have used Christian music and
Christian videos, and I try to bring a Christian perspective into our
discussions whenever I can. I have also been allowed to start a Christian Club
at the high school where we meet once a week to encourage each other in our
testimonies at the school.
I am administrator of sponsorship funds for several disabled boys who live here
in Cluj. I also try to help them with any needs they may have. Since there are
10-15 boys who may call on my assistance at any time, and since they rent rooms
in dormitories or apartments, some of them work, go to school, or aren’t sure
what they want to do. It can involve a lot of time. Several of the boys have
been baptized, so the Lord is working in their lives.
I help with the leadership of the youth group and a Bible Study from our church,
and sing with the worship team.
I open my apartment each Saturday afternoon and evening for kids to have a place
with a Christian atmosphere in which to relax. The Lord has made it possible for
me to provide Christian music, games, videos, and snacks. Many come to sing and
play instruments, too.
In the summers, I have been able to organize Bible camps with the help of groups
visiting from the US for my high school students, and many of them are coming to
church since the Lord spoke to them in the camps.
